Here at Publix, we have some 30 organisations currently working across our four floors of office spaces. As well as editorials and publishers, the building provides a steady home to various non-profit organisations, all of whom we call our residents.

Publix residents work completely independently of one another, united in their shared goal to bolster journalists, public opinion-making, and civil society action in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Europe. Indeed, some of them are active on a global scale.

The residents focus on quite diverse areas. Each of the organisations does its own research and publishing, protects freedom of the press, supports journalistic investigations and public-interest-orientated media, providing media literacy, observing digital platforms, countering disinformation and hatespeech, and working toward social cohesion and diversity.

Some organisations cooperate for specific projects. Publix and Netzwerk Rescherche, for example, jointly support research on educational topics.

Expertise, knowledge exchange, events

Together wit the residents and a further 100 co-workers, Publix brings together in-depth expert knowledge, international networks, and innovative projects under one roof.

These skills and this competency make Publix a unique centre for knowledge and innovation. Each of the organisations engage in independent exchange with members of the public, as well as the media and publishing industry, academics, civil society, political foundations, and politicians more generally.

The Publix team provides its residents and co-workers with regular opportunities for knowledge transfer and the chance to mutually benefit from our respective experiences. Participation in such initiatives if entirely voluntary. Both residents and co-workers have access to our various event spaces for their own workshops and events. Moreover, their activities are an integral part of the Publix events program.
