Publix Collaboration program
Publix is a project by many for many. At its core is the conviction that the work of all those involved gains in quality and effectiveness through exchange, knowledge transfer and collaboration. This is why Publix launched a long-term collaboration program in September 2022, around two years before the opening.
2022
From September to November 2022, Publix, in collaboration with the betterplace co:lab of betterplace lab, launched a collaboration process with the journalistic and civil society organizations that have supported the Publix project from the outset. Workshops were held to discuss and reflect on the diffrent ways of working. The central question was: How does an organization enter into collaborative processes and spaces - and what does it need to do so?
2023
After the first two months and more than a year before moving into the Pubilx building, a regular meeting with the program participants from the organizations was established as part of the collaboration process. In this group, which took place every eight weeks, regular feedback was obtained and reliable information on the project status was provided. In addition various topic-specific working groups - IT & Security, Governance & Exchange, Neukölln, Communication and Events - were developed. Within these groups, ideas and projects were developed and discussed.
Highlight: 1st Publix Resident Conference
The first one-day conference by and for residents took place in November 2023. Around 150 people from more than 20 different organizations came together for this co-created event. The aim of the conference was to give the residents an opportunity to get to know the people, including their skills and projects, with whom they will be working together under one roof in the future. Discussing together, developing concrete ideas for projects, gaining new insights, imparting relevant knowledge - and exploring the potential for collaboration. The singular program points of the conference were in each case jointly organized by two resident organizations.
2024
The residents moved into Publix together in May 2024. After the initial arrival and orientation phase, the aim at the shared workspace is to get to know each other better and to consolidate and continuously develop the process that was started together. This includes working out synergies, onboarding new organizations and participants, capacity building and networking, and creating peer-to-peer learning opportunities. After an experimental phase, reliable and tested formats are to be established by the end of 2024.
Publix opens in September 2024. As part of the opening program, residents are developing various program points in collaboration with the Publix team. Details will follow soon on the Publix website.
