Shortly before the federal elections on 23 February, we want to discuss election reporting. With a constructive approach, we will look at new journalistic formats that seek a close dialogue with local people and enable participation.

CORRECTIV.Lokal has trialled a new type of election reporting with citizen participation with six local media in four federal states and implemented it as part of the ‘Your voice, your issues’ project.

Jonathan Sachse, Head of CORRECTIV.Lokal, introduces the project: What issues do local people find relevant? How did the local direct candidates respond? And how has election coverage in the local media changed in recent weeks?

At the end of January, Abgeordnetenwatch will publish two services for the Bundestag elections, which Managing Director Léa Briand will present. The ‘candidate check’ provides voters with an independent tool for comparing their positions with those of the candidates in their own constituency. They can use the ‘election platform’ to get to know all direct candidates, ask them questions directly and receive answers that can be viewed publicly.

Boussa Thiam is a presenter for the intercultural radio station Cosmo_ARD and works for Deutschlandfunk Kultur. She will host the evening.
