Many students receive hoaxes on their cell phones. How can they tell if they are true? Why is this important? Checking facts, verifying sources and correctly searching for images on the internet are all part of news literacy.
In this practical 90-minute workshop from Lie Detectors, an experienced journalist shows how teachers can teach news literacy in the classroom.
We will have concrete examples and teaching materials with us and will respond to individual questions. Introductory topics of the workshop include how children and young people consume digital information, how to incorporate media literacy into daily classroom routines and the emphasis on playful and non-political approaches. At the end, we will go into more detail about materials for the classroom - with material from Lie Detectors and other organizations.
