We are launching our Shared Reading group! After a few pilot sessions in December, we'll be meeting regularly to read together and discuss what we've heard. We welcome anyone from the neighbourhood – and beyond – to join us.
We will be reading selected works by writers from around the world. The texts will be read aloud and then we will have the opportunity to discuss them. Trained facilitators will guide the dialogue: offering encouragement, asking questions and steering the conversation around what has been heard and read. Everyone can contribute their own thoughts and feelings – or just sit back and listen. No preparation is required. As well as good texts, we always offer tea and biscuits.
Please note that the course consists of multiple sessions. Registration is therefore binding and implies regular attendance. Please register
We offer two courses: the German course starts on 29 January and meets every second Wednesday from 17:30 to 19:00. The English course starts on 18 February and takes place every second Monday from 17:30 to 19:00.
About Shared Reading
Following Carsten Sommerfeldt's own participation in a shared reading group in England many years ago, he and his team are now bringing the concept to many institutions and groups in Germany in order to bring the world of literature closer to neighbourhoods. The project offers the opportunity to experience literature together across cultural, social and age boundaries in a protected space.
Further information can be found on the Shared Reading website.
