"As if it were over" - book presentation by Katja Petrowskaja

How does war change images? How does it change the way we observe things? How does it change those who withstand it or those who watch it?

With her photo columns, which were published in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung between February 2022 and fall 2024, Katja Petrowskaja has unintentionally written a chronicle of the war.

On February 13, shortly before the third anniversary of Russia's attack on Ukraine, Katja Petrowskaja will present her new book Als wäre es vorbei (As if it were over) at Publix. The author reflects on what it means to see images of a war that cannot actually be grasped.
In conversation with Publix director Maria Exner, Katja Petrowskaja tells the stories behind the images.
